Violette Vesper

Violette Vesper

Long live the Holocene Vesper

Ingredients

  • 1.5oz Honey I'm Home Gin
  • 1oz Flivver Vodka
  • 0.5oz Mixbehave Creme Violette
  • Lemon Peels

Method

  1. Combine all liquid ingredients into shaker cup and add lemon peel
  2. Shake with ice
  3. Double strain into Coupe or Nick n' Nora glass
  4. Garnish with second twist of lemon

Garnish
Peel a long strip of lemon and trim it into a straight, elongated rhombus. Twist it over the cocktail to express the oils, then rest the peel neatly on the edge of the glass.

Notes
This Vesper variation uses all Holocene ingredients. Shaking a Martini might feel unconventional, but the aeration creates a super-chilled, spirit-forward drink that stays colder for longer. James Bond famously ordered a Vesper in Casino Royale, but while the “shaken” part certainly works, it was more literary flair than bartending wisdom from Ian Fleming.

Adding the lemon peel into the shaker releases bright, floral oils that weave directly into the structure of the cocktail, giving it a subtle tongue-tingling lift. The final lemon twist garnish is all about the nose, adding a burst of citrus aroma right at the wash line.
